6/16/14 Vienna Kunst Haus Wien

Vienna, day 2.  First stop, Kunst Haus Wien, a museum featuring a collection by the artist Hundertwasser, in a building designed by Hundertwasser, as well as seasonal exhibits.  In this case, the seasonal exhibit was on shoes and unfortunately it wouldn't open until the following Wednesday.

The museum is hard to miss.

We took a little time to photograph the exterior before heading inside.

Incorporating trees into the architecture is one of the characteristic features of Hundertwasser's work.

Fountain made of lots of different types of stone.

The floors are uneven.  I really like walking on these floors, they felt good on my sore feet.

This is a cafe in the museum's courtyard.

Photography was forbidden in the museum proper.  If anyone is interested in Hundertwasser's art, there's a website here: http://www.hundertwasser.com/  I also have a book at home with a collection of images.

But they can't stop you from photographing the bathroom!

The staircase leading to the exhibit rooms.

After the museum I wanted to go to the Schatzkammer with the students, so we went and waited for the Straßenbahn.

Next up, shiny objects.
